Translation from event slang into Russian
Brief– structuring and formally stated task for preparing the event. If the Client cannot independently and clearly state the essence of the tasks and scope of work, the brief helps him convey to the agency what the Client wants to receive in the form of an event. Often the client himself does not know what he wants. In this case, the brief is the product of a lengthy interview with the Client about his wishes.
Tender– a competition between various agencies, the prize of which is the right of the winner of the tender to conclude a contract with the Client. The tender usually involves a pre-selected agency that has experience and all the necessary information, and other agencies that have an optimistic outlook on their prospects and on life in general.
Deadline(dead-line) - deadline date, deadline for completing certain work. Mostly, deadlines are not met, so usually after the first deadline is missed, subsequent ones are assigned, increasing the cost of the work. The initial deadline is set within a reasonable time frame, but with some margin so that the first and second deadlines can be missed relatively painlessly. When the deadlines have really all passed and only a miracle can allow certain work to be completed, an absolute deadline is set, after which the work will actually not be completed.
Fakap(Fuck Up) - an unexpected and unpleasant event that occurred due to the fault of the organizer, a failure, a mistake that could have been avoided. For example, a technical problem (computer failure, electricity failure, lights out), or an employee being late can become a fakap.
Teambuilding(team building) is a corporate event aimed at team building. Team building can be carried out as part of a training event or corporate event. However, the term team building is most often used to refer to an outdoor event with a lot of outdoor games.
Technical scenario– an internal script for the organizers, which details what is happening and where, including technical aspects, areas of responsibility and other details of the event. It is better for clients not to see the technical scenario - they will either not understand it in all details, or, having understood it, they will demand much more from the organizers than is necessary for a successful event.
Intensive tourism– outdoor events, which are usually held at resorts. This is an event in which an entertainment element is a significant component.
Catering– food and drinks for event participants and related services. Often, ordering catering means providing food and drinks outside, i.e. not in the restaurant premises, but in a remote room where the kitchen travels.
Badge– a small identification card on which information about the event participant is placed. Badges are usually made of plastic, paper or in the form of a card with a built-in chip. The badge is attached to clothing or a ribbon and worn around the neck. In St. Petersburg (and by people from St. Petersburg), a badge is often called a badge.
Event Management – professional organization and holding of the event. Event Management Services.
Event Marketing– using an event to achieve a certain marketing goal of the organization that ordered the event. Typically, an event company does not learn from the Client about the real goal of the event, but only guesses, or learns about the goal due to its unrealization.
Event-event, event-event- a term used by non-professionals to denote a professionally organized, rather than spontaneously occurring event. The term does not make sense, since it is translated “event-event”. Do not use this term except as an example of unprofessionalism.
Event company, event agency- an organization that provides services for organizing and holding events. Typically, event agencies do not have a significant production or technical base of their own, although they offer it in the hope of renting it from subcontractors. If a company has its own equipment, it is called something else.
Subcontractor– all contractors of an organization that has entered into a direct contract with the customer.
Booking agency- an organization that provides services for booking and ordering something. In the event business, the booking agency usually ensures the appearance of star artists.
