Yesterday the event award ceremony “Event of the Year” took place and this is what I would like to say about this.
Sooner or later, a professional prize/award should appear in Russia that is respected in the professional community. There may be different opinions about how beautiful it is, how honest the selection of winners is, how magically everything is organized. Let there be questions about how independent this Award is from sponsors, how much it reflects the situation on the market, how free it is in its assessments. The main thing is that there is such a Prize, that it is recognized, appreciated and respected.
This kind of bonus is needed by professionals in order to separate show-off from real achievements. To see who achieves everything with their sweat, blood, talent, and who just talks. It's only a matter of time before a figurine appears - a symbol for which people will tear their veins, roar with passion, die, but for everyone around to say - yes, it was really cool.
You know, I think that such a prize appeared in Russia yesterday. It is not yet as beautiful, does not reflect the entire market, is not magically organized as we would like. There were objective reasons for this, which will pass over the years. But she is a Figurine for which you want to tear your veins - she already exists. It is done by professionals, for themselves, for those who understand what is good and what is bad. Because these people feel responsible, because they are honest, because they want to do something real.
The works submitted to the competition were very strong. Unfortunately, it is clear that this is not all that the market can present. There weren't enough of them. But I am sure that the distrust in the “Event of the Year” award will gradually pass and next year there will be much more work from more agencies. There will be more nominations and more winners. And we, too, will tear our veins all year long over each project in order to submit them to this harsh competition.
