The first events in the history of mankind should probably be recognized as ancient social and religious rituals: initiation into warriors, election of a leader, celebration of a successful hunt, sacrifices... This means that the first organizers of events were shamans - those who knew and created rituals.
Over time, the events became more sophisticated and complex. Citywide and state holidays appeared, coronations began to be held, large-scale religious events covering entire continents, etc. d.
The life of ordinary people is also not complete without events:We celebrate birthdays and weddings, celebrate anniversaries and anniversaries.
One day, having come to a temple in a new city, Confucius began to ask about rituals. Laughter rang through the rows of people: “They say he’s a sage, but he doesn’t know the rituals!” To which Confucius replied: “Asking about rituals is a ritual.”
With the development of a market society, the commercial sector became involved in organizing events. Business events began to be held aimed at exchanging ideas and information, events with the aim of making a profit. It happens that events become a key element in product promotion.
The activities of organizing and managing events in the international business community, as already mentioned, are usually called event management(English). Despite the fact that organizing events as a specific form of activity has existed since time immemorial, it became an independent industry not so long ago - about 15 years ago, and before that for a long time it was an integral part of other sectors of the economy: hotel business, tourism, show business; Some of the functions for organizing events were assigned to sales departments, professional associations... This hampered the development of event management as a separate form of activity. Now professional associations have appeared in the field of event organization, there are specialized literature, certification programs, and you can get higher education in this area. Gradually, event management is becoming a recognized industry with its own technologies, market players, legends and traditions.
I would like to note that significant efforts were made in the development of event management as an industry and profession by Dr. Joe Goldblatt, author of the book Special Event - probably the most iconic book in the field of event management, which has already gone through four editions. Mr. Goldblatt is also a founding member of the International Association of Professional Event Planners - ISES.
Organizing events has a strong impact on society as a whole.. In some countries this is a serious industry, bringing the state many billions in taxes. With its help, you can attract many tourists (for example, carnivals in Rio de Janeiro or Venice are visited by hundreds of thousands of people), which becomes a significant source of income for local budgets. Holding conferences and exhibitions helps generate business contacts and thereby spurs economic development.
