We recently held a large-scale event.
Usually, the larger the event, the more complicated it is, and you may need all sorts of things that are available in the office but difficult to find at an off-site venue. So we load them into numbered boxes and, voilà, demonstrate the miracles of preparedness at the event. We had scissors and spare double-sided tape, a first-aid kit with antibiotics and painkillers, shrimp sandwiches, MiniDVI-to-DVI and VGA adapters, AAA and AA batteries, and a few other things. There were paper clips and brushes, stickers, radios, GPS navigators, and ribbons of different colors. In short, a miniature Noah’s Ark for event organizers. But what struck me most was that one of the boxes contained a golf ball. It was a truly unusual choice: a golf ball at a presentation of a premium healthcare product taking place in a conference room. I admired the ball, but never managed to figure out what it might be useful for. It wasn’t.
