Entering an event is a delicate moment.
Inside is a fairy tale, its own reality, its own laws. Here you are expected, here you are needed. Here they hand you cat ears and you put them on with a smile. Here they put a seal on your hand - a seal of dedication. You are inside. You are part of this new, albeit artificial, reality. You are part of a caste closed to the uninitiated.
And what's outside? On the outside it’s boring, mundane and ordinary. It's routine here. There is something inside that is different from the routine. There's an event there.
The moment of entry is a dedication and needs to be highlighted especially. We need a ritual. You need a transition border - here you are still outside, but here you are already “duty free”, a free zone.
I always dreamed of making a real tunnel connecting this and that reality. But there was no suitable site yet.
This is the tunnel like at this A-Awards event.
In China, the entrance to a contemporary art exhibition was made in the form of a tunnel, with televisions broadcasting the news built into the walls. And at the end of the tunnel is a real slide!
